I'm doing a power point for english class and I need to know your alls thoughts about this......

We have done this before. It's a very hot topic on the forum.
it seems 1/2 are dead set against it, and the other half ok with it.

Unfortunately we've never really had good arguments either for or against, just a lot of heated emotions doing the talking. And in some cases we have more than that - some people show a lot of hate when they argue the subject.

I personally am ok/neutral about it.

We may look back on this years from now and see the way we're banning gay marriages is a lot like the way interracial marriages used to be banned.
People then called interracial marriages 'unnatural' and a lot of people now call gay marriages 'unnatural.'

Some folks will attempt Bible quotes on the matter. The Bible does say to not 'lie with' another of the same sex, but it doesn't say two of the same sex can't be married.

tell why you're against it though...i'd never be gay myself, but who am i to say who someone can and can't marry?

people use the Bible very often in this discussion...what many people overlook is that not all people are Christians, how are you going to explain to an athiest person that they can't be gay, or have an abortion because "the Bible" says so...how would we feel if we weren't the dominant religion in this country?? if Hinduism was the dominant religion, would you like it if the President and Congress tried to pass laws that would make it illegal to eat cows??? it's insane...and it's purely based on people's religion which should be out of politics in the first place...it is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT ok to be against being gay yourself, that is what you believe because of what you have been taught...but to look down on someone who is gay or to tell them what they can and cannot do is unjust and goes against every bit as much of the Bible that you are preaching in the first place

Look at a dollar bill, or coin that is minted in the US. I believe it says in God we trust. Not in Budda, or Alla, or nothing. That is why the Bible should, and can be used in my opinion.

I am not trying to say that in a bad way gcdevil22. I know that we all have Freedom of Religion, but we must also keep in mind that this country is founded by Christian values.

And I am looking at it from a religious sort of persepctive I guess?
In the bible it says man shall not lay with man, nor woman with woman (or something along those lines?)
Plus, I think if it was 'meant to be' that there would be ways for childbirth between the same sex- but there's not.

I agree with gc completely and just because it says God on currency doesnt really mean it has to do with Christianity. God is just a generic name really. Allah is God,Budda is God,Emmanuel is God. Heck, some religions dont even refer to the higher being as God, I think the Hebrew term is the Eloheem(sp?). Anyway point being, there is a freedom of religion in this country and not everyone follows the bible so its impossible to judge others(wayyy too many judgemental people in the world anyway) when they dont even know what moral ethics one follows.
